What’s best for the Pakistan? EU and US AI Regulatory Models: A Comparative Study

Artificial intelligence is swiftly emerging as a pivotal technology in the realm of global competition. While it offers revolutionary prospects for societal advancement, the technology simultaneously raises significant apprehensions regarding potential risks and detriments. Addressing these concerns and transforming technology into a responsible asset for humanity have been essential objectives in the developing global framework of AI governance. This study proposes doctrinal research method and comparative analysis of EU and USA jurisdictions. Regarding AI governance as an active negotiation and regulatory trajectory, the researcher investigated laws and policies on AI governance and the policy-making processes in both jurisdictions (EU & USA) and articulated two paths of balancing technology and ethics. This comparative study offers to further understand AI regulations and transparency patterns serves as a crucial link between the policy discourses on AI, frequently entangled in intricate legal discussions, and applied sociotechnical research on AI fairness, accountability, and transparency in Pakistan. This study concludes Pakistan’s first AI policy developed responsibly and deployed to unlock socio-economic progress and digital empowerment. This research also recommends global competitiveness and the local needs of Pakistan.
