The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has significantly transformed the educational landscape by introducing innovative tools and technologies that support teaching and learning processes. This study examined the impact of Artificial Intelligence on academic performance, student engagement, and cognitive growth among students in Punjab, Pakistan. A quantitative research approach was adopted using a descriptive and explanatory research design. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire from 433 students enrolled in universities, colleges, and higher educational institutions across major cities of Punjab, including Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Bahawalpur, Sargodha, Sheikhupura, and Dera Ghazi Khan. A non-probability convenience sampling technique was employed to select the respondents. The collected data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) through descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation analysis, multiple regression analysis, and One-Way ANOVA. The findings revealed a strong positive and statistically significant relationship between Artificial Intelligence and academic performance (r = 0.672, p < 0.01), indicating that increased use of AI technologies was associated with improved academic achievement. Furthermore, the multiple regression analysis demonstrated that Artificial Intelligence significantly influenced student engagement, with personalized learning, instant feedback, and learning support emerging as significant predictors and explaining 54.9% of the variance in engagement (R² = 0.549, p < 0.001). The ANOVA results also indicated significant differences in cognitive growth among students with varying levels of AI usage (F = 13.927, p < 0.001), with frequent AI users reporting higher levels of critical thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities. The study concludes that Artificial Intelligence plays a vital role in enhancing educational outcomes by improving academic performance, increasing student engagement, and fostering cognitive development. The findings provide valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and educational institutions regarding the effective integration of Artificial Intelligence into contemporary learning environments and highlight its potential to support future educational transformation.
